LEADERSHIP COMPONENTS
Definition: If you INFLUENCE people, you are a leader.
Questions: Are YOU a leader in your mastermind group? What do you bring to the table to accelerate the success of the group? What do you expect from the group to accelerate your own success?

POWER VS. INFLUENCE
Definition: Real power is the recognition of authority. A strong leader has the power to lead PLUS the authority to lead: People HAVE TO follow PLUS they WANT TO follow.

STEP ONE: DESIGN YOUR VISION

Vision is the cornerstone of extraordinary leadership. See the Big Picture. Put vision into tasks/stages/workable milestones.

STEP TWO: COMMUNICATE YOUR VISION

The typical vision is uncommunicated by a factor of 100. Communicate the vision OVER and OVER – in as many different ways as possible (voice mail, memos, etc.)

HOW TO STEP INTO GREATER LEADERSHIP

People make decisions on whether to follow you based on two things:

1) CHARACTER
Have INTEGRITY. Think of an INTEGER – a whole number. Integrity is being whole… ALWAYS honest, not honest based on circumstances Be OPTIMISTIC. Research shows the most optimistic candidate generally wins the election. People want to follow optimistic people. TAKE RISKS. Don’t be “risky” (careless, not considering hazards) but know the risks and take calculated actions.

2) SKILLS COMMUNICATION
The ability to TEACH. The ability to DELEGATE. If you try to do it all yourself, you’ll never go anywhere.
TAKING IT TO THE MASTERMIND GROUP
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

Leaders take responsibility. Followers accept responsibility. Notice what needs to be done and take action.
BE FULLY PREPARED. Come to each call with something to gain and something to give. Example group: “If you show up unprepared, we boot you out. If you can’t show up prepared, it means that you’re not a leader. And if you’re not a leader, you don’t belong in the group.”
ACCOUNTABILITY. Be an accountability group. Not a commiserating group. Most of the time people make excuses for coming unprepared. The question: WHAT ARE WE ABOUT? BIG THINGS require BIG ACCOUNTABILITY.

ADVICE FROM SUCCESSFUL MASTERMIND GROUPS
Be CURIOUS. Ask questions. Challenge people. ASK FOR HELP.

SPEAK THE TRUTH about the group. What’s working, what’s not. Practice leadership skills with the mastermind team. If your group needs a boost, BOOST IT. BE the leadership that your group needs.
